Surely they'll be along soon to tell us how brilliant it will be when tolls come in and how dynamic competition between road companies will drive down prices and ease congestion - just like it has on the railways Ahhhhh yes. Tony Posted March 19, 2012 Share Posted March 19, 2012 Road pricing has been looked at by successive governments for years. A quick check reveals that it was first put in front of Parliament in 1964. The last government was caught out to when they were secretly working secretly on it just before the last election, only a few years after a couple of million people has petitioned against it. iansheff Posted March 19, 2012 Share Posted March 19, 2012 I don't see what all the fuss is about, I am sure the plebs will just sit there in their cars in traffic jams while watching the rich cruise past on their private lane. As Mecky says I can only see prices going up, some unscrupulous firms will say they have to charge more for delivery as they use these lanes to make sure they deliver on time. (Thinking about companies like Tesco who refuse to accept deliveries if they are not there by a certain time, hopefully with all their clout Tesco would refuse such increases.)
