Pilon
Anyone know the location of any of those machines you can exchange coins for notes? The one at the Chapeltown Asda is out if order. Is there anywhere at Meadowhall I can do it? Or elsewhere in Sheffield?
anywebsite
You only get a voucher to spend in the shop, not a bank note & it expires in 24 hours. They take a percentage too. You're better off just throwing it in the self service tills at the supermarket. I've heard HSBC have machines where you can pay it into your account, if you're with them. I don't think there are any Coinstar machines in Meadowhall, they're just at supermarkets, usually the same ones with self service tills, which make it pointless. damo
Natwest in the City Centre also has a machine you can pour your coins into, should you hold a Natwest account.

Actually you can ask for cash in return, you don't have to spend it in the shop. It does indeed expire in 24 hours, but as long as you take it straight to customer services after cashing in, you can have cash in return. They take around 8.9 pence per pound. To the OP, google coinstar and you should be able to locate your nearest machine.

nickfinn
HSBC in city centre has coin deposit facilities which puts the money straight into your account without a charge. Ideal if you're a current HSBC customer and if not and intend on needing to change coins to notes often then might be worth opening up a HSBC (or indeed natwest) account for this purpose. I don't see why the supermarkets should take even more of our money!
