The Tramlines Festival 2012 Megathread

There is mention on the website of a printed programme for sale. When will this be available?

At the moment it's a bit difficult to plan anything as there is an enormous list of acts of different genres and not much clue about where they are on or what time.

Will you be making set times downloadable? I know a few festivals do this so you can keep band stage times on your phone, and not keep a piece of paper around - which can get easily lost, so you can easily access time tables on the go between venues and stuff.

For example ATP I'll Be Your Mirror

I know it might not be possible for EVERY venue, but at least the main stages in town.. or each venue doing their own stage times and being available for DL to smartphones.

We are pleased to be part of this years TRAMLINES FESTIVAL and will have 2 nights of live music on Friday 20th July and Saturday 21st July.

Acts who will be performing are ROBBERIE // CITY REIGN // BRUTE FORESIGHT // BIRCH HOUSE BROTHERS //SELBY GREEN // DAVEY HORNE // MAN BITES FRIDGE

Music will start with local band ROBBERIE on Friday from around 8pm followed by Manchester's CITY REIGN and local music collective BRUTE FORESIGHT finishing off. On Saturday Sheffield's BIRCH HOUSE BROTHERS will kick things off in style before Leeds' own rockers SELBY GREEN will blow the cobwebs from your innards. Then, from Falkirk, the fabulous DAVEY HORNE will take to the stage before our final local act MAN BITES FRIDGE will funk it up in the way they do best.

Hopefully you can come along and catch at least part of these shows and do your best to support what we are trying to achieve at The Cobden.

As always, its free at the Cobden, and of course it double free as its TRAMLINES!!

Links to the acts playing can be found below.

We hope you will join us. x

ROBBERIE- http://www.robberie.com

"Beautiful indie-folk" – Christian Carlisle, Radio Sheffield

CITY REIGN- http://www.cityreign.net

Influenced by Idlewild, The National and Ryan Adams, City Reign are one of Steve Lamac's favourites.

BRUTE FORESIGHT- http://www.facebook.com/YorkshireMusiciansEclectic/posts/336038083136359#!/brute4sight

With a line-up that includes 3 MCs and a flute player, Brute Forsight are no ordinary band. Already making waves in and around Sheffield, it would be nice to see you, to see you,NICE! (sorry!)

BIRCH HOUSE BROTHERS- http://www.facebook.com/thebirchhousebrothers

Veterans at The Cobden (well almost!) the BHB's self described brand of "Ecky Thump Punk" always goes down a storm. Get involved!

SELBY GREEN

http://selbygreen.com/

As their song Prodigal Son says "Grab you by the balls! Twists ‘em, turns ‘em, and writhes you up the wall!’ .Expect more of the same. Proper Rock and Roll guaranteed.

DAVEY HORNE- http://www.daveyhorne.com/

In an incredibly short space of time Davey has established himself as one of Scotland’s freshest and most exciting talents. His songs show a love and affection for the past 40 years of soul, pop and Americana.

‘Davey is in possession of an incredible, raw, bluesy voice.’ The Fly

As well as an obvious love for music that has gone before, there is something resolutely youthful and invigorating about Davey’s song writing and he has even been paid the compliment of being compared to several Scottish song writers who came to light at young age including Gerry Rafferty, Roddy Frame and Edwyn Collins.

DONT MISS THIS!

MAN BITES FRIDGE- http://www.sites.google.com/site/manbitesfridge/

Born out of a desire to gain free access to music festivals, Man Bites Fridge stormed Shambala Festival in their first year & have gone on to thrill the masses with a danceable, funky, somewhat comedic and lyrically dynamic new wave/dance/funk n roll original groove-smithery.

"They are, quite simply, more Funky than a Funky Funk from Funksville" Prince

Some indication within the venue of who is actually onstage now would also be good if possible. Sometimes you walk in there, ask the nearest person and they don't know either.

Yeah, even if theres a QR code on the venues poster for smart phones to scan helps loads.... this way they can update stage times accordingly.

In case google is not your friend, The |Cobden View can be found on Cobden View Road, in the Crookes area of Sheffield. 10 minute walk (uphill) from Sheffield Uni Student Union, or down School Rd from Crookes if you get a number 52. Failing that a taxi from town centre costs between 4 and 7 pounds depending on where in town you get it, the time of day, and whether you phone for a cab or flag a black cab.
