Country Pubs near sheffield and chesterfield

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I have friends in chesterfield and I am the chesterfield side of Sheffield,

can anybody recommend a nice country pub around this area, we don't mind a 20-30 min drive, looking for decent views and a nice outside area

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Sam

Monsel used to be good but they don't allow you to tale drinks up to the top grassy area any more, which was the main reason to go there!

Fox house is a dump. It's miserable inside, the food is crap and there are not views.

The Barrel is great. The food is excellent, lovely inside and amazing views if you sit out the front / on the bench over the road!

For decent views...

Of the ones mentioned you'd have to go some to beat Monsal Head hotel amd the Barrell at Bretton to be fair. There are stunning vistas to be had from either of those vantage points.

The Red Lion at Stonedge near Chesterfield may tick the boxes for you? And if it doesn't, you're on route to Beeley so go there instead. But, unless you class the proximity to Chatsworth as being a "decent view" there is no view at all from the Dev Arms at Beeley, other than the car park and adjacent cottages.

The White Horse at Woolley Moor, near Chesterfield, has nice views and a big garden at the back for kids to enjoy in summer. Used to have decent food at one time too.

Chequers at Froggat. Not much of a view but nice countryide. Millstone at Hathersage maybe?

Fox House is just another boring Vintage Inn. Just like all the others in that dreadful chain. Views? Hmmm! not bad. Outside area? nothing to it really.
