Transmitter mast in Wheata Wood, Grenoside

Recommended Posts

Some Ordnance Survey maps show a radio/television transmitter mast in Wheata Wood near Grenoside village. There appears to be no trace of this structure on the ground.

Does anyone know when the mast was removed?

Roger, I was asking a workmate about this today. He claims to see it from their house and his son runs to it sometimes for a bit of exercise.

I presume this is the mast you're talking about; http://binged.it/I3VCGv

Changing to Bird Eye View and zooming in a bit still shows it as being there, but obviously I don't know when the picture was taken.

Google also still shows it http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=53.443326,-1.508586&spn=0.000316,0.00101&hnear=Sheffield+S10+1NX,+United+Kingdom&t=h&z=21

but it looks like the StreetView car didn't venture up Rough Lane, off Bower Lane.
