hillsbro
In Kelly's Directory for 1927, 260 Langsett Road is listed as William Henry Nichols, draper. The area was evidently still a thriving shopping street then as opposed to the closed down wasteland it is today. The area was still thriving in the mid-1960s. It was the demolition of the streets opposite that first caused hardship to the shopkeepers, as most of their customers moved away. The 1901 census shows James White, greengrocer" at 260 Langsett Road; the 1911 census shows "Percy Blackwell, moulder" there.
