Consenting adults

Recommended Posts

If Zamo's consenting adults are an adult and their parent, how does that change the general perception?

Judging by the way people reacted to an older lady being a surrogate for her son/daughter and having their baby via IVF, and calling that sick, I think it would be an outrage.

There is also an increased risk of producing disabled children when the parents are themselves disabled. The risk is also much higher for older women having kids. Should they too be banned from procreating? Or are their rights somehow more important?
They, too, should be banned.

Would you associate with people of that nature, you obviously approve of activity of that fashion?

A woman of 40 is 1179% more likely to have a down syndrome baby that a woman of 25. People with a learning disability are more likely to have children with a learning disability. And the list of groups exceeding what might be considered 'normal' levels of risk could go on and on.

If the risk of producing a disabled child is no more than it is for other groups (who we tolerate reproducing) then how do we justify treating incestuous couples differently? Even if the risk was deemed unacceptable, shouldn't the law simple prohibit them from having children rather than having sex? The fact that it is the relationship itself that is prohibited seems to indicate that the risk issue is a smokescreen for what is really a State imposed (intolerant) morality law.

You don't have a choice if you're born with a disability, you do have a choice when it comes to fathering a child to your sister. It's not just slightly exceeding normal levels, it's 20-36% of births for babies from parent-child & sibling-sibling couples according to wikipedia & there are some horrific disabilities caused by incest.

Maybe it is a state morality law, but it's one that most people can agree with. Go for the other victimless crimes first, trying to legalise sex with a parent or sibling isn't going to win many supporters it's something that most people find abhorrent.

The thread is about consenting adults.

Despite what Mel may think, I would suggest that any sexual activity between a parent and child can never be truly consensual.

I would also suggest that siblings will nearly always have an element of dominance in their relationships which would, again, make it difficult to verify the claims of consent.

There are many laws and practices in our society that have developed for good reason.

As unappealing as it may be to some, the simple fact that the majority find something truly abhorrent is good enough reason not to indulge in the practice.

were not talking child in the geneal sense as child, more like a child that has grown to adulthood, whats not truly consentual?
