truman
I'm against murdering horses when they can live (at a cost), just like we do with humans! Even if you make them suffer for 3 or 4 months..?
spooky3
Even if you make them suffer for 3 or 4 months..? What, so they can live out their natural lives after making the owner lot's of money... Medicine rarely tastes good! If the owner is willing to put the horse in the race, they should be liable for the upkeep and support thereafter!

Cruel, you are twisting things, treating an animal (human, horse, etc) to take away the pain so they can carry on living isn't cruel!

Stringing up a thoroughbred race horse in a sling, stopping it from moving around for at least 3 months isn't cruel? As I understand it imobility can affect the horse's circulatory system so you may precipitate other health problems for the animal.Have you done any research on this... genuine question..or are you just shooting from the heart..? Probably not if you look after them properly. The same can happen to anyone in hospital, but we check and take precautions to make sure it doesn't happen. Horses aren't humans... different physiology...as I understand it once a horse's leg has broken it can break again very easily..how many time do you want to put the animal through this sort of procedure..? Glamrocker
Animals die in the pursuit of money. Footballers have been known to die in the pursuit of money,i.e while playing ,is football therefore considered a blood sport ?

The treatment of steeplechasers will not invove this because they have been gelded and are of no use if having to be retired.
