Renualt scenic dashboard repair

Had mine replaced jan 2011 - was £100. I found a press release/statement on the BBC Watchdog site from Renault stating that price.

You could probably get a non-dealer to replace, but I guess the price would be the same or higher as they would need to buy the part (which would probably be quite expensive).

 

Another option is a repair. There was a company who would repair it and retain the mileage figures, but I had to remove/install the dash myself (it's quite straightforward I'm told, but didn't want to risk it). Think it was about the same price or a bit more (£120?).

As for driving it, it's illegal as you do not have a working speedometer, but we did (had to, as the dashboard went on new years day when we were away). I used my smartphone and a dashboard app :-)

It's just a big con from Renault, they should have recalled all effected models and completed the work free of charge.
