steven3383
What mileage has this car done? 144,000 it's done
ANGELFIRE1
Flickering oil light on tickover, low oil pressure - I assume the engine has done a fair few miles. It may well be banjaxed now. Angel. Could be the oil pump on its way out. 144,000 it's done Big end, little end wear no doubt at that age, not the oil pump I doubt. Angel.
carosio
Big end, little end wear no doubt at that age, not the oil pump I doubt. Angel. That's right, I had an Austin Metro that had worn big end shells and, after a long run when the engine was very hot, the oil light would remain on at tick-over. Adding oil thickener such as STP might improve things (for a while) though.
truman
There is, all diesels are high powered at low revs. Try driving a non turbo diesel...you might change your mind about "all diesels"

RootsBooster
Lol, so its not just general politics that Balpin knows nothing about! You're not kidding, look at this... A diesel will just pull the excess out and burn it. NO! A diesel engine overfilled with oil runs a serious risk of self-destructing, in a very extreme way! Balpin
Oh yes... I know, I have a car outside that has demonstrated to me that very thing:help:
Amaranthus
Try driving a non turbo diesel...you might change your mind about "all diesels" Ed Zachary. My husband has a diesel, mine's petrol. I hate driving his car, it's nowhere near as powerful; it feels like driving a tractor compared to mine.
