Eater Sundae
According to the news, there have been talks between the six main fuel hauliers and the drivers union (Unite IIRC), to try to come to an agreement to avoid a drivers strike. If there is an agreement to, for example, give the drivers extra pay, then presumably it will apply similarly to all fuel hauliers, who will then be able to pass it on - ultimately to us. The hauliers have colluded together to reach this agreement with the drivers. Does this contravene European competition laws? A few years ago the some major supermarkets got together to agree increased payments to milk suppliers. Ultimately, they received big fines for this collusion. Is there really any difference between the two situations in terms of competition law?
