barleycorn
Try 'Imaginary friend that some people don't grow out of'. I said falsifiable! (And yes I know you were joking, and yes I know I won't get one). jb
RootsBooster
For there to be good (by definition) then there equally has to be a bad to compare it to. Most of the religious scripts use this way of teaching (well, I say most, I've only read Bible and Koran; however, I've observed the same in Judaism and JW too). No there doesn't, is watching TV an act of being good or evil? I don't believe that there is a "force" of good either, but if there was, it doesn't mean there also has to be a bad and vice versa. There can simply be a lack of good. Walking in the park, sleeping in bed, driving home, are these acts of good or evil, or just an absence of either? Theists sometimes make the same mistakes about atheism, they think that an absence of belief is the same as believing there definitely NO God. RootsBooster
Well thats fine, but how do you explain the reason for all the murder and violence we hear about every day in the media. Thankfully good is what most of us come across. People carrying out acts which are their own choice. Whether these choices have been influenced by their upbringing and environments is another matter, but it's not a "force" in terms of spirituality or supernaturality. If you don't believe in Christianity, you are not going to accept anything written in the new testament as fact, but i do. Though i realise some of it is contradictory, and i havn't got a degree in Theology so don't ask me to interpret all of it. Well that's just it, MUCH of the bible is contradictory. If it wasn't then I would consider it. Regarding right and wrong/good and evil, you've heard me ask the question about Moses and the 10 commanments before, nobody seems to want to talk about it though. harvey19
Until such time as a coherent, falsifiable definition of God is produced then the term 'God' is meaningless can be safely dismissed. jb Until a start point for evolution is identified this can also be dismissed by your reckoning then. Chris_Sleeps
Until a start point for evolution is identified this can also be dismissed by your reckoning then. Do you think that all life was created as it is? Or do you think that early life was created, and has now evolved?
quisquose
Until a start point for evolution is identified this can also be dismissed by your reckoning then. Doh! Evolution is demonstrably true. The start point may be unknown, but this is irrelevant to it's existence. I realise you are probably being flippant, but this doesn't make your statement any less stupid.
