We used Irish hats as well, The US had no input in either Kursk or Alemain in tactics, manpower or logistics, they may have been on the approved suppliers list for equipment but the Czechs supplied the Germans with a good deal of their firepower and I dont see anyone giving them credit.

The Czechs had no choice. They were occupied by the Nazis and their factories taken over for war production

They would both lose, surely? Both sides have nuclear weapons, so both sides will be destroyed.

Absolutely not!. Yes they do, but are merely the political equivalent of some well toned guns. No one not even the most mental dictator, would fire a nuke on another country, knowing full well it would ultimately mean there own demise as well. Nuclear war will never ever happing IMOH.

Only on the approved supplier list. That's a good one. How many other nations do you think might have been on that list?

If we didn't buy from the US, could we perhaps have bought thousands of tanks, hundreds of aircraft, and dozens of ships on credit from, say, Portugal? Mauritius? Greenland?

And would the US becoming militarily active elsewhere have, perhaps, tied up other Axis assets, and freed up other British assets?

If they had not, we would not have had the huge manpower and equipment advantage that made Alamein such a walkover.

THe US also supplied military hardware to the Russians as did the British.

The Russians didnt need tanks. They could turn out their main battle tank the T-34s by the thousands. It was a very good tank but could not out shoot the German tanks. The battle of Kursk was won because the Russians could take the losses in tanks and manpower whereas the Germans could not.

The US supplied the Russians with trucks and artillery mostly. The Germans on the other hand were still using a lot of horses to pull their field artillery definitely a disadvantage when launching an offensive which needed fast transportation of troops and artillery to battle areas.

Hardly so. There were two battles that decided the outcome, both American victories. The first was at Baltimore, the second New Orleans. That brought an end to the war and from then on relations between both countries became much better

Not true, the fianl battle was won by the British, (although the war had officially ended).

You really should look up the facts, you are taking too much notice of Hollywood.

We did PURCHASE from the yanks, as part of the deal we gave them bases all over the world from which, after the war, they have proceeded in their arrogance, to upset virtually everyone they have come into contact with.

What is your take on Radar and Enigma which we provided to them for free.

As much chance as we had.We Bankrupted ourselves fighting the Kaiser whilst the yanks sat at home bleating about democracy and freedom. Quite happy to see us go under. The only reason the Yanks entered the war was Pearl harbour and the fact that Hitler declared war on them.

If Halifax had become PM instead of Churchill, the war would have ended in 1940. Hitler would have attacked Russia. We would have retained the empire and control of the seas. USA would have remained what it was 5th largest army, isolated, revelling in its mediocrity.

It has taken the US less than 20 years to go from the worlds superpower to a declining, sad, almost bankrupt nation.

Over the next 100 years it will continue to decline. Third world here they come.
