tinfoilhat
Well we can't bomb them as our aircraft carriers haven't got any planes on them and we can't nuke them because they have the codes for the nukes. Rock, scissors, paper anyone ?

Harleyman
The US didnt fight that war alone. They had a lot of help from the french, hence the gift of the statue of liberty. Add to that the fact that Team GB were thinly stretched accross the other colonies, handing the states to the yanks was the best option. America wouldnt have won a wear against us any time before 1940 as up until then they didnt have a navy anything like the size of ours and their airforce was a joke. They would show us our backsides these days though. They have a marine corps that is 250.000 strong and thats just the marines. You are getting your wars mixed up. HeadingNorth
You are getting your wars mixed up. I believe he is. The war of 1812 took place when about ninety per cent of the British armed forced were busy fighting Napoleon; no direct help from the French, but plenty of indirect help since we barely even had one eye on the American war, let alone both. Harleyman
I believe he is. The war of 1812 took place when about ninety per cent of the British armed forced were busy fighting Napoleon; no direct help from the French, but plenty of indirect help since we barely even had one eye on the American war, let alone both. The war started mainly over three issues, the British restrictions on American trade with France, the policy of British ships stopping and boarding American ships and removing sailors to serve in the British navy and British support for the Indians who were fighting American expansion in the west. The Americans crossed into Canada and burned down the Canadian parliament building and the British retaliated by invading the US and burning down the White House. There were victories and defeats on both sides and it ended up pretty much as a draw. The war was pretty much a side show as far as the British were concerned, they being occupied with the war against Napoleon
Phanerothyme
The US would win with a decisive submarine launched pre-emptive nuclear strike without the British managing to fire a shot. Of course, I suspect their domestic terrorism problem might suddenly get a lot worse.
