Does Britain have a nuclear capability

Recommended Posts

Officially there are eight, I think; USA, UK, France, Russia, Ukraine (?), China, India and Pakistan.

Unofficially, North Korea and Israel are known to have nuclear weapons and South Africa are strongly suspected, but none of them have openly admitted it.

Appartheit South Africa did have nukes, but voluntarilly disarmed prior to the move to democracy.

Supposedly not; common knowledge (which may or may not be 100% accurate) is that we cannot launch Trident missile without authorisation codes supplied by the USA.

We might still have the old Polaris missiles lying around somewhere... they would still suffice to obliterate ten or twelve major cities, but it was felt necessary to upgrade to a system that could wipe entire countries completely off the map.

Best not to take chances I reckon! :hihi: Who should we start with? Personally I think it ought to be the French. Secondly, the French.

But that was a Q-bomb, not an A-bomb. :hihi:

The Grand Duchy of something I've forgotten ... (For those who haven't a clue what we're talking about, it was a film starring Peter Sellers, Peter Sellers and Peter Sellers.)

And the immortal Margaret Rutherford

I would expect the government of the United States to have operational spies in place for forewarning of this. Obviously it will have occured to them. Unfortunately, you will be required to spy on your allies maybe even more than on your enemies. That's life.
