cgmw
I've been racking my brain all afternoon and just can't remember the name of this cave i want to visit in the peak district. During spring/summer a mechanism is set up at the entrance and you are lowered into this vast cathedral like cavern. If anyone knows the name of it i would be very grateful! FatDave
Is it Gaping Gill? Pot holers descend and explore the year round, but on May Day (I think) a firm builds a scaffold over the top with a winch and you can pay to be lowered. Dunno if they still do that but they did when I went there. There are miles of smaller caves to explore from the massive main cavern.
