chefkicker Posted April 24, 2012 Share Posted April 24, 2012 For a kid that age i wholeheartedly recommend Marsdens All Styles http://www.marsdensallstyles.co.uk They are based at Hillsborough Sports Arena. 3 Generations of the same family all training together! The 2 Brothers (in their 30's) run the club assisted by their dad who is 60+ and the kids and nephews/nieces of the same family (or grandchildren of Marsden Senior) are all training together. Excellent family atmosphere , its a blend of Karate, Kickboxing and Self defence. Modern fighting style with Traditional Values. The traditional ettiquette and discipline is really emphasised. He knows his stuff both in terms of the the style and the application of the style into self defence. He also has close links with other clubs in the area so you get a good variety of teachers and experiences. Drop him a line ..... lotar Posted April 24, 2012 Share Posted April 24, 2012 Pick a martial art your child enjoys, self defense on a physical aspect is useless for a 5 year old, at that age self defense is about, teaching them what to be aware of and warning signs of danger, If they train in a martial art they enjoy and have fun in they will stick with it longer .
