donuticus
OK. So what should they do? More cuts (and what?) different strategy (like what?) We are supposed to be suffering to get the debt down. We are, but it isn't. Can we realistically ever repay it? Not true. The current cuts are to get the deficit down.
f0rd
If we are taxed to death how the hell does Gov think people are going to spend? They have taken all our money. I'm not right wing in the slightest, but we need to get out of the EU and use the billions saved to lower petrol prices, lower VAT and tax cuts for workers. Osbourne's Brownonomics 'lite' are a disaster.
Jim Graham
OK. So what should they do? More cuts (and what?) different strategy (like what?) We are supposed to be suffering to get the debt down. We are, but it isn't. Can we realistically ever repay it? We haven't even started suffering yet. The borrowings are still massive and we have barely started to make any dent in reducing the debt. I don't know exactly what the latest figures are but we are still borrowing more than £2,000,000,000 a WEEK to keep the public sector going. Last year we averaged more than £3bn a week. Like for like that's more than we borrowed to fund World War 2. and it all builds up to a mountain of debt and we spend more on interest payments than we do on education. Perhaps some people like you will start to realise just how big a mess Labour left us with. But, I'm not holding my breath. That Selective Socialist Amnesia is very contagious and seemingly incurable.
Jim Graham
Best way to encourage growth, cut 50p of the cost of a litre of petrol. People suddenly have extra cash which can then be spent in the economy (instead of all spare income going on petrol). Businesses grow, pay more tax, take more people on who then pay more tax, who then have cash to spend in the economy. Dole queue are down, less money spent on welfare, more money comes in taxes etc... etc... But that won't happen because of the Green agenda. Many people campain against car usage - but funnily, the people who campain against car usage are often not too keen to give up their own car Are you Ed Balls in disguise? The problem with putting more money in people's pockets is they spend it on stuff that benefits Chinese and Indonesian workers. Their dole queues go down, not ours. It's been tried loads of times before under various guises and has never worked. Ed Balls has got even less idea than Osborne on how to run the economy. Let's not forget he was Brown's right hand man at the Treasury during Labour's reckless spendaholism phase.

That is what is happerning now. The folly of this can be seen all around.

Anna B
Well we're also back in recession, the double dip that we were supposed to fear most, and was used to justify all the austerity. Cameron's measures aren't working are they? But this isn't a criticism of him or the Conservatives, cause he did what he thought was right and I think showed courage in doing it. Do you think Labour's spend could work any better? If not what is the answer?
