MrSmith
The people you refer to as "They" in your quote below "They are paid substantially more than the tax they pay" That applies to everyone because no one pays more in tax than the wage they receive. bazjea
What are are you talking about? I am talking about the public sector workers that you refer to below. Who you state that they are paid substantially more than the tax they pay. Which I read as they are on a different tax scale to the rest of us Hence my request to know who in particular these people are. Because I certainly don't get paid substantially more than the tax I pay. and I don't think many on this forum will either. " They are paid substantially more than the tax they pay; not paying them would save money as long as they receive less on the dole than their take home pay. That doesn’t mean we should sack them all but there are plenty we can do without."

Fair enough if that is what you think Just one last question do you feel you get paid substantially more than the tax you pay.

It’s not what I think; it was you thought, you read what I wrote and then decide it meant something other than what I wrote. Yes to your question. Mecky
The right team are in power, After a decade of loony reds it will take time to put things right. They should cut more benefits and sack those that do not produce in the public sector. Oh I see, if we're making outlandish comments perhaps they should take your house off you and sell it and put the money into the government coffers? The national wage is somewhere in the region of £27k. In the public sector office which I work, most people are on £16 or £17k, a few are on or above £21k but not many. Senior managers are on about £30k and are fewer still. Recently we contracted out some work to a private company and they messed everything up big style, which has taken even more money and manpower to correct. People who believe that public servants sit around all day drinking tea whilst pocketing from six figure salaries and benefit from gold-plated pensions have obviously been reading some right-wing rag such as the Daily Mail.
