CH02TON
I'm about to pass my driving test and would like some help from drivers about insurance. I've looked at a couple of price comparison websites. For instance, the best quote I got for a 10 yr old vehicle was £3.5k. Can anyone offer me the benefit of their experience on where to look. CAGlover
Its a sad state of affairs, but I doubt you will find much cheaper no matter how hard you look
players
Put an older driver on as a named driver, good driving record, no speeding offences, should make it cheaper. Doesn't matter if they never drive your car, it's not fronting.
robangel
Love the confidence! really expensive insurance for new drivers, like someone said unless someone will let you go on their insurance, I don't think you'l get an affordable quote.
Location114
From the benefit of my expierence im not sure this would even work i have recently been looking into this as an option and it doesnt seem to make any difference doing it that way it has at some points been more expensive to do it that way. The only advice i would offer is try to get a quote from insurethebox the reason i say this is they ask you what you will travel in a year in terms of miles and quote you for that by fitting a tracker on your car so they can see how much you travel if you go over you can just buy topup miles. That personally worked out better for us but dont know if it will help in your case surely worth a pop either way? Out of interest what cars are you looking at? Put an older driver on as a named driver, good driving record, no speeding offences, should make it cheaper. Doesn't matter if they never drive your car, it's not fronting. CH02TON
Thanks to all for your replies. I'm not in a great hurry and am open to all ideas. Someone suggested the cc would impact. I will explore other vehicles. The quote was twice as much as the car, a VW with a 1.9 litre engine.

High power vehicles in the hands of in the inexperienced equates to a bigger risk of it ending in tears according to insurance companies.

The value of your car is only a small part of the equation..you can wipe out a bus stop full of people with a cheap car as easily as you can with an expensive car..and you can write off someone's new aston martin with a 12 year old polo..
