I think it should, but it really wouldn't make a difference to overcrowded prisons.

It wouldn't really, the amount of serious crimes, serious enough to warrant a death penalty is very slim compared with other, more minor crimes.

Plus, if its anything like America, where they still hold the prisoner on 'Death Row' for years, it wouldn't make a difference at all.

Hi just wondering, if anyone would welcome the death sentence back to Briton? For terrible crimes, considering that our prisons are becoming heavily over crowdered.

If you want it back at least put forward a reasonable argument.

Death is not a sentence. It is unknown and people assume it is a penalty because they are afraid of death. Despite the fact they do not really know what it is they are afraid of.

If prisons are overcrowded, real reason is not enough jobs and poor help for the unemployed that are getting fed up.

If they had money, something to do, most of them would not end up in prison.

Cause and effect. I don't believe it is the prisoners fault they ended up this way.

Worse than not much of a deterrent, it was no deterrent at all. Even the US states are gradually removing it as an option and using it less and less.

It's possible to release someone from jail when wrongly convicted, it's not possible to unexecute them, there is no place for the death penalty in an enlightened society.

Don't forget our prisons have a high amount of foreign criminals.
