Some were destroyed in the blitz but many survived. They cost about £30 from the government site. Type army service record in the internet to get the gov. site address where to apply. Well worth getting. Thank you sir.

If you have his India General Service medal his name, number and regiment will be engraved around the edge of it. If he served in the war you can purchase copies of the regiments war diary for the relevant period. Edited April 23, 2023 by harvey19

Was Safeway Infirmary Road the only supermarket for the whole of the "S6" postcode until then? When did Co Op on Middlewood Road open? Do Morrison's own the whole complex? The pillars in the precinct are painted in Morrison's colours.

You might already have it. There is loads of information about Lt. George Sainton Kaye Butterworth who was born at Paddington, London on 12/07/1885. He was with the 13th Battalion DLI. He was killed in action at 4.45am on 05/08/1916 (aged 31 years) during a fierce encounter with German troops who were attempting to recapture Munster Alley. Unfortunately he was shot through the head by a sniper. His body was hastily buried by his men but was eventually lost during further bombardments in the area. He is listed on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing. Edited April 26, 2023 by hauxwell
