Penfold70
Hi Are there any maths gurus in here that can help me out with a small problem ? If i have a number , lets say 395 , and i know 395 is the result of another number being reduced by 25% , how do i find out what the original number was ? it's probably simple but it's driving me nuts
barleycorn
Simples. 395=75% of original number Therefore original number: =395/75x100 =526.7 jb
PeteMorris
Wouldn't 395 be 3/4 of the original number? So divide by 3, then multiply the result by 4 = 526.66...gulp not even sure if that's right...maths aint my best subject!...

matsalleh
Slightly off topic a little. I was watching some quiz on telly recently when the question was"what is half of a half". Every one said a quarter, which was accepted. Surely the answer is always a half.
