choogling
Well the laptop and charger are quite new, but the hospital won't let you use them unless PAT tested. So again just wanting to know where to go and get it done please. A lap top does not have a mains plug so does not need pat testing .

Are you sure the people at the hospital don't mean that you can only use the laptop on their premises if their own engineering department has tested it? having fun
P.A.T. testing was brought in to aid the audio visual hire industry under hire association of europe rules not all a equipment needs testing every year most office equipment only needs testing every two years. the introduction of the test was so hire equipment had a record kept for earth inpedance ect. so that you could hopefully make sure that equipment did not fault while in use. I do know of some very very bad testers and companys 1. Tested lights lights with no bulbs (can not get a test) and did not need testing as they are perminent fitment 2. Tested (and passed ) equipment left on bench awaiting repair with direct shorts SIX items
Pinnacle PAT
http://www.hse.gov.uk/electricity/faq-portable-appliance-testing.htm Zzzzzzzz here we go again Enjoy your read and good luck should you need to claim By the way purely from an insurance point of view, how do you expect to "prove" an appliance has be inspected and maintained ? The recommendations have always required employees a "visual inspection" but who ever does that seriously ? Insurance companies will ALWAYS require proof...............FACT Do i run a successful electrical testing company? See my signature. Damn right i do, The OP isnt saying anything that wasn't ever common knowledge. Nothing will change, its a tiny price for companies to pay to "prove" they've taken all reasonable steps to ensure their appliances are safe, and some we've tested could prove deadly, seriously. Take for instance your building catches fire and its proven to be an overloaded socket for example, causing the blaze or someone dies through an electric shock due to bare wires on a flex. Can a company show any evidence they've take all reasonable steps to ensure that there appliances are safe? PAT Testing is going nowhere People like CHAS, Safe contractor etc don't ask for it for nothing......
