British Steel Tubes Div. Rutland Road Sheffield

Recommended Posts

British Steel Tubes Division, Rutland Road, Sheffield.

Worked here 1970 to 1972 as sales bod with Slotter Carr {aka Peter}

Remembering those days which were good fun, are there any ex staff out there still have memories of those days .

Am still in contact on a regular basis with Slotter, and we often wondered at the whereabouts of the people we worked with.

Ivan Gregory,m Man, Charlie Walker , Office manager , Charlie Doxey , W/H foreman. , and some lovely office girls ,we wonder how the years have treated everyone.

On those days at Tubes Division in the early 70's I fondly remember the lovely office staff girls.

We used to have a night out once a month at some club or entertainment venue, with the girls Jean , and her sister Dorothy, there was Nina , Joan , and the receptionist/.telephonist Lorraine , and Glenis .

What happened to these lovely ladies over the years ?

British Steel Tubes Division formerly Stewarts and Lloyds were a major company in the UK producing Gas tube and fittings along with Rectangular and Round Hollow sections for architectural purposes.at its huge facility in Corby.

Their distribution was through a network of warehouse systems in the UK , one of which was on Rutland Road Sheffield.

On looking at Google Earth, I notice the once bustling warehouse is now boarded up , a sad reflection on the way this country is heading for third world status .

Anyone any information of the last days of this once great company ?
