truman
What I would like to know is, if the group hadnt've had learning disabilities, would they have still been "intimidating"?! I still reckon there's at least some discrimination involved in this! And being disabled myself, I will boycott Butlins until a suitable answer to this is given, not that I've been for over 30 years anyway. A group of 36 adults may be seen as intimidating..what's the size of group normally allowed by Butlins?
LeMaquis
It all depends what slant you want to give it....they also said that they'd take the holiday makers in 2 groups.....do Butlins allow large groups of adults to book en masse..genuine question... I've just looked on the Butlin's website and the following advice is for group bookings of more than 19 people at Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skeggy (it allows you to book online for up to 19 people 15 years or older); "Groups of 20 + enjoy these great benefits: Cracking early booking offers, the earlier you book, the better the offer, ask us about how you can save up to half price The very best offers for this year and next plus an extra 5% off First class support from award winning advisors to help you every step of the way from the first point of contact and whilst on Resort enjoying your break At Butlins we understand the pressures of organising a group holiday and our Resort based Group Advisors are at the end of the phone ready to help you plan your fantastic Groups holiday at Butlins. By getting to know each of our groups personally we can make sure that together we find the right holiday for you and your group so you have a fabulous holiday experience and want to come back for more! So, what are you waiting for - our resort based Groups Holiday Advisors are here to help you plan your Groups holiday." So if Butlins is allowing groups of 20 or more to book by phone and there is no size limit stipulated on their website then the complainants might be onto something. Ladeckington
I can fully understand butlins point of view that people may find this kind of group intimidating. They are perfectly entitled to that point of view In fact I would fully agree. Ok it might not be PC but if you were a kid would not find this group of people erm rather strange and weird (coming from a childs view point though)
smithy266
A dog fell in the canal and had to be rescued. http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/puppy_rescued_after_falling_into_canal_1_3567958 Perhaps the owner might in future keep the pooch on a lead? Closet Guy.
I love dogs but seriously, sending an entire fire crew to save a dog whos owner is dumb enough to walk it off the lead near a canal? The owner should foot the bill and be thankful no one died due to the appliance being tied up rescuing some pooch!!

Sam @ Dearne
I loved this bit Crew members issued a warning about the dangers of open water following the rescue operation. They said it could easily have been a child falling into the water. Yeah, only if the pooch was capable of metamorphisis, or a child was in doggy fancy dress! Non story indeed!
