I remember a case about 20 years ago when a jack russell fellin the sea at blackpool, its owner then dived in to save it, and stared to drown, a police man, dived into sae the owner, this policeman stared drowning, when his colloeague a wpc dived into save him. All three drowned and the jack russell suevived. Its true that.

Remember it well, can't believe it was more than 25 years ago though.

Apparently the dog answered to the name "lucky".This dog in a canal story may have been started by a journalists mate pushing the dog in-most dogs are good swimmers as can be seen in the River Don,where dogs race each other round the back of the Basset factory.

Funniest thing I ever saw was on a stretch of the canal in Attercliffe. Beautiful summer day and a large german shepherd dog was leaping into the canal, swimming to the side and climbing out, and then promptly leaping in again. The dog did this about 5 times before it went through a hole in a fence back into a scrap yard. Fantastic.!
