Angilaruk
The Molyneux Company of the Queens Lifeguard Regiment, a locally based Regiment of the Sealed Knot are proudly presenting the “Battle for Sheffield Castle 1644”. This exciting event will be taking place in Hillsborough Park, close to Hillsborough Library on the 19th and 20th May 2012. This will be an exciting prospect of 17th Century Soldiers helping raise money for 21st Century Soldiers. However, we do not glorify war, and at the end of each days battle we “raise the dead” to a round of applause. During this weekend of fun, there will be a “Living History Encampment” where you can meet members of the Sealed Knot who “Live the life of 17th Century Army camp followers and Officers alike”. There will be a number of displays throughout the day, culminating in an English Civil War battle re-enactment between the armies of the King (Royalists) and the army of Parliament. The battle will have the excitement of cannon fire together with volleys of musket, not forgetting the hand to hand fighting between the blocks of Pike where anything can happen! The Living History will be open to the public from 10am, along with a funfair for small children, Refreshments and Food Stands. The event will finish at approximately 4pm each day. Entrance to the event will be free, however Funfair rides are charged separately. During the free event there will collections made by “Help for Heroes”, who will also have a stand with both information and items for sale for those interested. http://www.Molyneuxs.webs.com
