Now the Socialists are in power in France will the economy race forward?

So a stock broker who currently earns £30 million and pays tax in the UK currently paying around £14 million in income tax and a few more million in VAT and excise duty. His business paying around £100 million in corporation tax. He probably doesn't use the the NHS or send his kids to state schools so he's not exactly getting much in return for his taxes.

The only time a bank would ever pay £100 million in tax is when it made over £11 billion profit.

Barclays bank forced to admit it paid just £113m in corporation tax in 2009

Barclays Bank has been forced to admit it paid just £113m in UK corporation tax in 2009 – a year when it rang up a record £11.6bn of profits.

Please would you tell us how Barclays managed to pay 1% in tax, when the current rate of Corporation tax is 28% ?

Balls?..............

That would be Andrew Balls. Brother of Ed Balls. Partner at PIMCO, the worlds largest bond sellers. Earns £8-10 million per year and lives in a £5 million house in Kensington.

I refered to an individual stock broker not to a multinational bank. They are pretty easy to tell apart as one tends to be made from concrete and have thousands of people working inside it.

Here's a case in point..

http://www.ifaonline.co.uk/ifaonline/news/1649957/stephen-lansdown-departs-uk-guernsey

Stephen Lansdown, the Hargreaves Lansdown co-founder and one of the UK's richest individuals, has left Britain for Guernsey.

Lansdown, who has built up a £452m personal wealth, departed the UK to avoid the 50p tax rate.

So you think Andrew Balls is not paying any tax? Do you have any evidence of this?

Of course they don't pay tax. They don't pay vat or car tax either.

Everybody knows that all rich folk do is burn all their money just to mock us, the down trodden workin clarse. Some just use money as kindling to burn poor people.

What they don't do is pay tax in any form (including fuel tax) or buy high price goods that provide employment for those who make and sell high priced goods. They don't employ cleaners, accountants, gardeners or anything else.

And don't you forget it !!!

It is. So for someone who earns say 4 million euros the actual overall rate will be of the order of 70%. Would you pay that? I know i wouldn't and if i was in that position i'd have the cash to move with a click of the fingers.

Anyway, as jason says lets see how Mr Hollandes little socialist experiment gets on.

I wouldn't know unless I was in that situation, but it's for sure that many would move abroad.

Wow, and does anybody care he's gone?

Hardly the catalyst for the London riots, was it?

Well I suppose deep down you do, because he and many others no longer each pay millions of pounds of tax to the UK, so the rest of us have to pay more instead. But it makes some folk feel better knowing that they won't be spending their money in British shops and providing jobs for British people.
