Now the Socialists are in power in France will the economy race forward?

Well I suppose deep down you do, because he and many others no longer each pay millions of pounds of tax to the UK, so the rest of us have to pay more instead. But it makes some folk feel better knowing that they won't be spending their money in British shops and providing jobs for British people.

Correction:

But it makes some folk feel better knowing that they won't be able to threaten to destroy the British economy again unless we bail them out with hundreds of billions of pounds of British taxpayers money.

Top 1% of earners contribute almost a third of all the income tax paid into Treasury coffers

The highest-earning 1 per cent of Britons pay almost 30 per cent of all income taxes, according to research.

The 308,000 on the 50p top rate – who earn more than £150,000 – pay £47billion a year to the Treasury.

Since 2000, the share of tax paid by the highest earners has risen from 22.2 to 27.7 per cent.

So it woud be no loss if they cleared off and that 30% came from folk on benefits.

You seem to have a major problem telling the difference between an individual and a bank. Individuals are the ones who get on planes and move abroad.

Some people ought to take a look at where our current tax takes come from. The rich pay for most of it, so i'd be a little wary in driving them out unless you want 50% tax rates yourself.

edit puisseguin beat me to it.

Let them go if they want to.

And that takes no account of the VAT and other tax revenue when they spend the reast of their income.

We should hound them out of Europe.

I wouldn't go that far. If they are EU citizens they have freedom to settle almost anywhere in the EU. So let them go.

They won't go of course. It's all hot air. And if they do go others will take their place.
