Arsonist kills 6 children in Derby housefire.

It's interesting to note who believes in "innocent until proven guilty" and who doesn't.

Quite.

I never saw any of this oft referred to footage, nor ever cast aspersions on them. I think that I shall reserve judgment and wait until a jury decides, if they're charged and the CPS prosecute.

I definitely saw this coming though, you can always tell from the appeals they do if they did it or not.

And to prove I'm not just saying it now they've been locked up, the day they came out to do the appeal I said something was fishy about it on The Sun's website.

Can't believe I'm saying this; but yes, I agree with you 100%, there were certain little idiosyncrasies in how they behaved. I said to the wife @ time, I wondered if they were involved, still I hope to god I'm wrong, but we'll see, looks like I could be right though.

Hmm, so on the basis of an arrest the 28 and 38 year old couple previously arrested must also be guilty?

Must be good business for grinders honing pitchforks today.

People were saying on the other thread about it, that in the press conference, they 'didn't seem distraught enough' so must have something to do with it.

Now, even if they are charged with murder, and the fire was as suggested on the other thread, an insurance scam gone wrong or similar, I'm sorry but I still think they would be 'distraught' to have even accidentally murdered their 6 children. Distraught, and in shock - maybe not really capable, mentally, of showing much emotion.

Arrests have been made previous, so this doesn't prove anything - and I'm still reserving my judgement.

that would make it manslaughter wouldn't it?

Its irrelevant I am just checking! You can't accidentally murder someone can you?

or would it be murder if you deliberately started a fire that resulted in death (I think it should be but I don't think it is)

Good point - It would be manslaughter I should think, although I'm not 100%

I think any defence would struggle claiming it was manslaughter given the reckless nature of the offence (pouring petrol through the letterbox) and the knowledge that people were inside the property at the time.

yeah I was just going to edit my post because if you were starting a fire for the insurance money you would surely come up with a reason for your kids to be out.

You definitely would - Unless they had planned to frame someone else for attempting to murder them (what with other arrests having been made)
