Is there any wonder some of our young don’t want to work.

I know and a policy of employing British workers instead of foreign workers would lead to a smaller population and reduced housing cost,

Shame the Tory immigration targets are not being met. Net immigation is double the target. So many unexpected people are arriving it takes hours to process them through the border controls.

Yes it’s a little disappointing, but it was to be expected, we will just carry on as we are, lots of unemployed and an ever increasing population, with winners and losers.

The problem is that there is very little concrete policy in place to actually make the reduction happen. What policies do you think are needed to discourage immigration at the current level?

I've been talking about them throughout this thread.

His business was to talk to people; he only apparently employed people to find a way not to pay tax. Is business model should have been as straight forward as a one man band, someone books him to talk, he talks and gats paid, then he fills in his tax return, or has he did employ a team of accounts to legally avoid tax, but that option is available to everyone. Everyone can become self employed and build a business so it is available to everyone.

Everyone can start a business you're quite right, but if you're a shelf stacker at tesco's you try telling them that you want to be self employed and form a contract between your company and theirs that you will provide 1 person to stack shelves, see how far that goes.

Training to give our unemployed the skilled required by employers, and incentives for the unemployed to do the training.

Incentives for employers to train and employ the unemployed instead of looking abroad to fill vacancies.

Incentives for the unemployed to seek paid work instead of a life of doing nothing, this would be achieved by making them work for their benefits.

When the unemployed are in work, the welfare costs will reduce allowing more money for other public services, and greater employment opportunities in the public sector.

This will create a disincentive for immigration into the UK because employers will favour the British unemployed and the British unemployed will have the motivation to work.

The population will stop increasing due to immigration and housing costs will reduce.

You can all the skills in the world but they won't do you much good if you're being undercut by foreign countries, foreign countries which largely control the cost of living here, keeping us out of work.

The problem here is employers employing foreign workers instead of the British unemployed and the fact that China pay people to work whilst we pay them to do nothing. We have millions of inactive people getting money for nothing which is senseless when they could be producing something for the money they get.

You haven't listened to a word. What is the point of producing goods if you can't sell them? Besides, there are something like 200,000 workers a year entering the UK, including students, and not all stay. With something in the region of 3,000,000 unemployed it makes your argument quite useless nevermind pointless.

But employers who employ immigrants legitimately are not breaking any laws. We would need new laws to favour British workers which would possibly be illegal under EU law. Not to mention the issues we would have with global trading partners if we went down a protectionist route.
