Employment Law Solicitor

Recommended Posts

A friend has been sacked through what seem to be very unfair methods and reasons, and is seeking legal help.

Can anybody recommend a good solicitor who specialises in this sort of thing?

I'm a civil lawyer, not employment, so know very little about it. The one thing I do know however is that there are very strict time limits on employment claims, and your friend has to get his claim in asap. From memory, the time limit is three months from the date of dismissal/the action complained of, so they need to act fast.

Any of the big name companies in town will help them and should have an initial consultation for free. Tell them to check their legal expense policies first too, as they may have cover for legal costs, which they'll otherwise have to pay.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, those bases have been covered but what's needed is a recommendation for a good solicitor rather than picking somebody at random.

I do find it ironic that such a devout admirer of such an anti-trades union reactionary such as Churchill would now be looking for a solicitor specialising in the kind of laws that trades unions have fought for for decades but if irony is what you're looking for then try Sheffield Law Centre. Your red friend will probably have to be legally aidable based on the last 4 weeks earnings but if they can't help you there's also Howell's or just ask for a recommendation from one of them. In future tell your friend to join a union and become part of the international proletariat, comrade.

PM'd you Conrod :)

Personal 'double' recommendation. She did a lot of good work for my wife and myself, way back when, in relation to employment matters. I have worked with her since in relation to company/commercial matters, and she is a very good solicitor.

I believe in fair play, which on the whole doesn't require unions or militant left wing fools - do feel free to take a political swipe if you must, I'm just asking a question on behalf of somebody else.

She's done the Law Centre, wants to pay for a lawyer (not everybody wants legal aid), but is looking for a recommended individual.
