top4718
Can anyone recommend a tube or train station to park at to then travel on into London (Covent Garden). I can either travel down the A1 or M1 (preferably A1), I would need to park in the morning and return later.
Eckolad
East Midlands Parkway?
Brin56
Quite a few options coming straight off the M1. Try using Streetmap.co.uk for West Finchley tube. There is a road just above it that you can normally park on, and it will take about forty minutes to get to it. It's five minutes to get there from Jct2 of the M1. Parking will be free. If you want paid parking then you can park direct at East Finchley (bit more of a drive from the M1) or Colindale (about ten minutes from M1 at most) for about £2 per day. East Finchley would be the better of the two to park at as it's a much bigger car park with a lot more cars there all the time. Stanmore tube has quite a big car park, £3 for the day. About 40 mins on Jubilee line to Westminster, (Covent Garden short tube or bus away from Westminster ) You could go to Potters Bar British Rail - you'd have to pay for a weeks worth of parking, but it's a very quick connection into London, fast train is about 10 minutes to Finsbury Park (where you have either Piccadilly or Victoria lines ) and about 13 or so into Kings Cross with lots of tube options. perplexed
The Stanmore option as above is dead easy.
Green Web
I drive to london regularly and yes do as Brin56 said, but at the moment definitley go down the A1 as its much quicker. If you knew north London more and was familar with driving in the big smoke, I could tell you streets where you can park for free, which are fairly safe and are failrly near to tube and railway lines. Walkley Dave
Stanmore is one. Avoid the M1 by using the M40 and High Wycombe.
Anglersvista
Drive down the A1, take the Baldock services exit, drive to 'Arlesey' this should take two hours from Sheffield. Park up for free at Arlesey train station, it's safe and secure. The train from here goes to Kings Cross, takes half an hour, and is about £15 return. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&cp=5&gs_id=e&xhr=t&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1016&bih=524&wrapid=tljp133768165670308&q=arlesey&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x4876332c9a59f233:0x33a16af71971ab7f,Arlesey,+Central+Bedfordshire&gl=uk&ei=-ma7T8buFYnB0QWJ-8TlBw&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=2&sqi=2&ved=0CBkQ8gEwAQ
