melthebell
does it really matter? the olympics ISNT about being british, even tho its being staged here, the people parading the torch are from different countries too, on our leg theres a 65 year old guy from hemlington and a school girl from dubai some people are obsessed with finding anti british / englishness in absolutely everything theyre prolly wearing clothes made in china or taiwan too
denlin
Jaguar? Land Rover/Range Rover? Astra? Some Nissan/Toyota? None of them are British owned manufacturers Jeffrey - there simply is no major British owned car manufacturing industry any more:roll:
Lounge Jay
It looks to me like everyone is missing the point. It reads to me that we seem to be parading a foreign car rather than a British car. I doubt if you would see a British car escorting an olympic torch in Germany or in many other Olympic countries when it would be a good opportunity to advertising one of own made cars. This is nothing to do with the war it is a chance to take pride and promote British cars shown on television all over the world. Happy Days! PopT I'm in agreement with you here, its got nothing to do with any animosity or xonophobia towards germany, its about the olympic organisers missing a trick here by not championing a British car. Bonzo77
Jaguar? Land Rover/Range Rover? Astra? Some Nissan/Toyota? Januar is owned by an Indian company isn't it? I think Land Rover is too. The rest of the cars in your list have never been British.
RootsBooster
I just wonder if this topic has already been discused ? The Olympic Torch travelling through the Uk ..escorted by a German BMW ? doesnt seem right to me ! If you think that's bad, have a google at who INVENTED the olympics! And wait till you hear about the teams taking part, most of them are bloody FOREIGNERS!!!!!
MrSmith
I suspect the OP is peeved that the car is not a British car rather than it being a German one. Perhaps he would be happier if it was a new Mini? That was my first thought, It would never have occurred to me that the OP was about a dislike of Germans.
