Leah-Lacie
How old is it? If you ring Vax customer services they are usually quite helpful if its less than 3 years old. They sent me a replacement belt twice, I was supposed to have registered my hoover on their site and I hadn't done it, but they still sorted it! Oh I am sorry, "my Vax vacuum cleaner" If they can't send you the part to fix it yourself by the way, they arrange for it to be collected and repaired as far as I know

Leah-Lacie
actually, my old Vax did this, come to think of it, it was due to hairs being stuck around the edges of the brush bar, preventing it from turning properly, thus overheating and making the motor cut out. take the brush bar off and remove anything from it if you can. mazeppa
,Check the filters, if a vacuum cleaner can't breathe it'll overheat and cut out.
