Internet porn restrictions

Recommended Posts

Since access to adult content (not just porn) CAN have a negative effect on children and NO access to adult content DOESN'T have a negative effect, I would be inclined to go with internet services being provided without adult, unless requested. It could be done in the same way as password renewals, ie, a verification link is sent to the bill payer's email account, which they simply click to allow adult and customise the adult restrictions from there.

I don't know why I couldn't explain it this well:hihi:

It infers that I have viewed a much wider verity than you.:D

I agree with Skinz, the vast majority of free porn on the interweb is the crap churned out from America, usually hard, fast, every position and finishes off with a shot in the face.

I've viewed a lot also.

Occasionally you might come across some erotic, sensual or even romantic pornography, but it's few and far between. A lot of French stuff used to be like the latter, SOME British stuff can be entertaining and more realistic :hihi:

Apart from having blocked a perfectly legal service to a person who is (by definition) old enough to access it

Some people will feel uncomfortable with having to make the point that they do wish to access this content.

I found it annoying that I couldn't watch "adult content" tv shows on my phone (misfits) without calling Virgin mobile to activate it first, but it's only a phone call to make. Or just use a 3rd party viewer (Opera etc).

Not everyone will be happy to make that call though.

Topical reference:

The production company that makes Ben Dover films are suing several thousand O2 users for sharing their material as torrent seeders.

Which can be altered in moments

Some people will feel uncomfortable with having to make the point that they do wish to access this content.

Like I said, email verification. Automated and unmanned/unviewed by any staff. If they're still uncomfortable with it then it may just have to be one of the great sacrifices of the 21st century: People getting over automated adult content verification.

Not everyone will be happy to make that call though.

its not blocking it, its just asking you to request it if you want it. Blocking it would be preventing you from accessing it, requiring you to tick a box is not the same.

it's blocked unless you explicitly ask for it to be unblocked.

That sounds like blocking to me.

It isn't a fail safe either, so they'd have to make it clear that it would only block 'some' content and wasn't an alternative to parental supervision.

If it were automated and unmanned then what's to stop the teenager in question from removing the block?
