Williamson Hardware in Broomhill threatened

Recommended Posts

Yes I can confirm that Williamson Hardware will be returning to their previous premises (currently Blackwell's) around December 1st. with a much reduced stock range. Sainsbury have won.

i understand this was all supposed to be confidential until signed, ironmonger hmmmm could you possibly be part of williamsons ? where do you get your info?

Bitterly ironic that the news breaks on here that a bookshop is closing on the day the supermarkets are swamped with the new J.K Rowling.

The bookshop has gone downhill rapidly since they closed the mapping and travel guides section upstairs.

That was the unique feature about that Blackwell's store, and the main reason I went out of the way to shop there.

the decision to close the upstairs resulted in 2 staff losing their jobs perhaps if people had shopped local this would not have happened the shop still stocks travel it was just the specialist mapping dept which moved.

which ever way you look at this the staff knew they were going to be closing sometime before nov 2013 ( a letting board outside was a give away) however it was a cruel thoughtless thing to post that williamsons were going to be moving into the unit, don't forget that there has been no announcement that the shop is closing , what a way for the staff to find out that they were going to loose their jobs before xmas. thank you ironmonger

Blackwells are not neccessarily closing, they could also relocate, which if profitable I would expect to be the case. If they are to close it would be another loss to Broomhill, but you cannot blame Ironmonger or Williamsons for the way you found out, Blackwells must be aware and should have kept colleagues informed.
