Does anyone remember a football team called Ecclesfield Colley Rovers?

My dad used to take me to watch them in Ecclesfield Park in the early 1950s.

Any info about what league they played in and what happened to them would be appreciated.

The team that I remember playing in Ecclesfield Park in the (late) 50s were called 'Ecclesfield Red Rose'.

They had quite a good team at one time

Yes, I used to be taken to watch Ecclesfield Red Rose as well, but I'm sure there was another team who played on the same pitch, called Colley Rovers.

I have found a reference - via Google - to a team named Ecclesfield Colliery Rovers who were playing in the early fifties.

Was going to say I`d heard people talk about Ecclesfield Colliery Rovers and wondered if that was on and the same?

 

Ecclesfield Red Rose is still going strong with a strong junior section playing on the old Shardlowes sports fields.Think the senior sides play on the Civil Service Grounds at Green Lane
