Lynchee
If a person rang in sick for work, do you think it is acceptable for them to go out that same evening for a work related do? I think not, but am interested in your opinions.
Farslad
No. Hope that helps.
mj.scuba
I always think it should be the other way around. Rather than "if I'm not well enough to go to work, then I'm not well enough to *insert leisure activity here*", it should be "if I'm not well enough to do my normal leisure activities that I want to do, am I well enough for work?". alternageek
No, if youre not well enough to go to work, youre not well enough to socialise or go out. Its one thing to pop out to go to the doctors or to get medicine, its another to do a day of shopping or meet up with people
Chopsie
Depends on the illness/occasion, it's not a black and white question. Being well enough to sit in a bar/restaurant and chat to people for a bit doesn't mean you're necessarily well enough to do an 8 hour shift. If the person has stress/depression, then socialising might actually do them good. You can leave a night out at any point, go at whatever pace you want to. Not necessarily so in the workplace. Bilge
Depends on the job and the nature of the do. If sprained ankle and job involves lot of walking, running, but work do sat in pub then no problem. Also depends on workplace policies and general ethos.
Lynchee
I wouldn't have the nerve! My thoughts exactly!!! You wouldn't believe me if I told you the nature of the ailment...lets just say it was foot related, however they were perfectly able to wear heals and dance the night away. To say we were seething when we saw the pics the following day is an understatement!
