Recommended Posts

Im trying to find information on the artist and silver engraver G.T.Steel. He lived from 1871 to 1959. So far all I can find out about him, is that he was the father to Artist Kenneth Steel.Does anyone have any information rgarding this man, and the art that he did?

I thank you for the reply, but what Im trying to find out, is was G.T Steel known as an Artist in that area, and did his works have any real value? I know that his son Kenneth is a well known artist, but was wondering about G.T.Steel as well.

Hi Chuck,

I am on the same search you are on, because I have a nice watercolor that is signed G T Steel, which I've had for several decades.

It is of a small brook in a forest setting and one of my favorites.

I live in Rochester, NY,USA and purchased the watercolor at an estate auction.

Any knowledge you may have gained will be appreciated.

Thanks, Ken

GT Steel was an exhibiting member of the Rivelin Valley Artists, as was my grandfather Ben Baines.  Other works can be seen at http://rivelinvalley.org.uk/rivelin_valley_artists/

I have a catalogue from 1923 that lists three or four of G T Steel's paintings, but I have never seen any of his work.
