The new FPS service which a lot of banks have now implemented takes <1 day, I quite often see payments processed in <4 hours if both sides of the transaction are using FPS. What's the FPS? I used to have a problem with one firm who always said they had paid my wages in on the Thursday but sometimes it wouldn't go in my bank till the following Wednesday. I have no idea what they did to rectify it but a couple of weeks of me not turning up for work until I had been paid seemed to sort it out.
