You may want to acquaint yourself with the Mandatory Licencing Act of 2010......

Sporting Events

You will no longer be allowed to run promotions based on things happening during a sporting event

being watched on your premises, such as:

• “half price drinks when England scores a goal”; or

• “free drinks if your team wins”.

(i) the outcome of a race, competition or other event or process, or

(ii) the likelihood of anything occurring or not occurring;

You will need to adjust your prices for 24 hours or more, so you may as well run it for the entire Euros's day and night.....

UK seems to advise 24 hours with Scotland being 72, though generally licencing would see 72 hours as being more inline with the licencing objectives of The prevention of crime and disorder, The prevention of public nuisance, Ensuring public safety and The protection of children from harm.

UK

© provision of free or discounted alcohol or any other thing as a prize to encourage or reward the purchase and consumption of alcohol over a period of 24 hours or less;

Scotland

2.5 Section 3 of the Alcohol Act amends the provision in the 2005 Act for premises and occasional licences (paragraph 7 of schedule 3 and paragraph 6 of schedule 4 respectively). The 2005 Act imposes a condition in premises licences and occasional licences that prohibits the price for alcohol being varied before the expiry of 72 hours since the price of any alcohol sold on the premises was last varied. Section 3 amends this so that for alcohol sold for consumption off the premises the 72 hour restriction on varying prices only applies in relation to the price of the particular product in relation to which the price has previously been varied, as opposed to in relation to all alcoholic products sold. This means that in relation to off-sales of alcohol retailers may vary the price of different products at different times provided that the price of each individual product is maintained for 72 hours and the price variation takes effect at the beginning of a period of licensed hours.

So where can you get a pint of guiness, 1664 or corrs lite for £2.50?

As i have said on the other thread, good luck and hope you get a few in, people need to seriously chill with all the rules etc on prices.

Well you can follow the guidelines or face the possibility of losing your licence or worse!

Q. What will happen if I do not comply with these conditions?

A. Failure to comply with any conditions attached to a licence or certificate is a criminal offence, which on conviction would be punishable by a fine of up to £20,000 or up to six months imprisonment or both. However, in many cases, the licensing authority or police are likely to call for a review of those premises as the initial response.

As these new conditions are mandatory and apply across England and Wales, we would expect licensing authorities to take any breach seriously.
