chem1st
You can bring back unlimited amounts from the EU for personal use, free trade and all that. To be fair though, you don't really want much more than 3kg at a time, else you would risk it going off. Perhaps 7.5kg would be the most even a heavy smoker would want to risk storing, assuming they smoke 20g a day and it is too last for the year. Stock up when you can, because UK DUTY is insane! Tenerife is in the EU, but you can only bring 200 cigs back per passenger.

charliewag
i have quite a bit of baccy that i've brought back from fishing trips to spain and it's kept in the spare freezer we have in the garage. i simply take a pouch out, let it de-frost and it's fine. As mentioned by others, for some reason the Canaries are classed as outside the EU for duty purposes. When i came back from there the other month customs officials were selecting people coming through nothing to declare for bag searches.

Kid Sampson
East Mids. About 2am and there were quite a few of them taking people as they went through nothing to declare into a sort of open room at the side, you could see in as you went past, they were clearly looking for excess booze and fags.
