Lexikia
Hi, I recently used http://www.holidayextras.com/ cost £44 for 5 days in Spain. I have had a heart attack 13 years ago and am on medication, aspirin, atenonol, atorvastatin etc. Holiday insurance has risen sharpely over the years or is it because i am older? 52. I have used a few on line firms over the years even the Post Office but they all seem to be to expensive now. Have used Saga also but last quote was to dear. Never had to claim, so don't know what the customer service's is like

DT Ralge
We have used Columbus a number of times and will continue to use them. We had to make a claim last year, although not for the pre-existing conditions, and they paid out with very little fuss.
willman
Be careful that the existing conditions are actually covered. A family member has recently undergone major medical issues, following heart surgery a couple of years ago. They can get insurance, but not for anything related to his pre existing conditions. I would disagree that people cannot get insurance for pre existing condition's - there are quite a few specialist insurers who will cover any conditions (including people who are terminally ill) but it will come at a price. Here is one: http://www.allcleartravel.co.uk/cgi-bin/lansaweb?procfun+msdweb01+msdw009+alc another (from the top of my head) is goodtogo. A good tip is to look at the charity websites for the relevant medical condition as quite often they make recommendations or will give a list of insurers that are known to provide good insurance for pre existing conditions. And shop around - my own quotes for a weeks European holiday abroad have varied from £600 to £50 .........the cheaper quotes are from those that are specialist- as they better understand the risks. The general insurers tend to give higher quotes.
iansheff
I have Pre existing conditions and Saga have been the best last few times, before that I used M & S but they altered their terms and conditions.

Yes, i booked with one firm last year who took my medical details and insured me but when i recieved the policy, it stated my condition was exempt. They refunded my money. Darth Vader
Yes, do check that pre-existing conditions will be covered. Also, check out the policy, as sometimes it is almost just as cheap to get an annual policy that will cover other trips, as it is to get a single trip policy.
