Slugs..are they social creatures?

Recommended Posts

like animals such as rabbits and dogs etc

well are they?

do they roam in packs?

live in social groups?

does daddy slug bring lettuce home for baby slugs?

or are they loners who just happen to be on the same plant as others, munching away

Big ones eat small ones. And their own eggs. So I don't reckon they're suited for pack life. I like the idea of there being a large slug that all the rest call daddy and bringing lettuce "home" for the wee bairns. They do love the old pale ale though so they may in fact be very social creatures because my slug trap is always packed. Even on weeknights.

They are hive-creatures. They live underground in vast pigeon-hole structures where they spend most of their lives philosophising about how they should go about expressing their thoughts without the ability to do so.

In winter they join together to produce our snow, which in previous years has been scarce due to lettuce famine.

In the summer they take part in silent and motionless celebrations and all night parties, occasionally resulting in inactive violence.

Occasionally some may brake away from the near-infinite hive and simply wander over land aimlessly.

They are no match for wasps or the platypus.
