namtaB
I'd have thought Tim Berners-Lee would be a pretty good candidate considering he changed the world for all time. There again, he'd probably eschew such an accolade. So did Hitler and he has a distant relationship to our royal family.. Hitler for the face on the new tenner... Balpin
apparently hitler and simon cowell are the most recognisable faces today in pictures I would not have thought that actors were so easily recognised. The last time I saw him was in a Charles Dickens play on BBC2, some years ago. Is he really so popular?

Balpin
errrrrrrrm who was in a charles dickens play? hitler or simon cowell? Simon Cowell? I was thinking you meant Simon Callow, the great actor. This Cowell chap runs a second rate comedy/exhibition show doesn't he? Along the Victorian lines of people touring lunatic asylums?

He couldn't have done it without Turings earlier work, he was a pioneer - can't quite claim to have invented the computer, but close enough. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Turing There's also this petition for him to be pardoned, a bit late now - http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/23526
