HeadingNorth
If your on JSA then surely you should lose a days dole as you're not fit for work. And be given a days' Employment and Support Allowance instead? That's paid at a higher rate, so it would be an awfully costly change.
Riche
If you are unemployed and sick you should be put down. Not only a drain on the countries resourses but a burden to the NHS. They wear the pavements out.

Surely for that is for long term illness or disability and requires a medical assessment to qualify. It doesn't really fall under the umbrella of man flu. It would be more appropriate to apply statutory sick pay of £85.85/wk (discounting the first three days of sickness). Of course to be in receipt of this you should give back any housing or council tax benefit accrued for the period of illness as these are not payable to people on Stat sick pay. jb

Sheff Laser
And be given a days' Employment and Support Allowance instead? That's paid at a higher rate, so it would be an awfully costly change. It's only paid at a higher rate after claiming for 13 weeks. Until then it's the same as JSA. So actually no change.

JFKvsNixon
I've always been able to claim my annual leave back if I produced a sick note, not that I ever have. I guess that it came under the terms of my contract rather than an employment right.
