This Flaming British Summer!

Recommended Posts

heatwave in March, the the first time since 1999, only this one lasted several days longer. Then a very bad April. Then, a great May, very warm for weeks. Now, a very bad June.

it's six of one and half a dozen of the other, this one. Not a bad summer at all really and it's not over yet.

It has not started yet, we are only day 2, and people are writing it off already.

Beggar the topic. If the English ever had weather fit to live in, they would have nothing to talk about except football.:)

So explain to me how a country gets to be great without the people who inhabit it. Without them its just another place with mountains, meadows, lakes, and streams, nicer and more grand than most. You are a descendent of a great country which despite its small size somehow managed to civilize half the world. You obviously had no part of that, being of the new Britain, full of trollers who arrive in SF for a few months then disappear to spoil another forum.

The weather is a far more superior topic though.;)

Its an art in communication in Britain, and in order to be skilled at it you must know the correct expressions to use.

Foreign visitors new to the English language are advised to know this,if they want to fit in.

Take a look
