What does being British mean?

Recommended Posts

"to be born British is to have won first prize in the lottery of life"

Kipling and Rhodes, variously.

Have to be born and raised not one or the other.

Must have the natural wit, sarcasm and sense of humour.

"No one can be as calculatedly rude as the British, which amazes Americans, who do not understand studied insult and can only offer abuse as a substitute."

Paul Gallico

Must be apologetic and publicly embarrassed by the actions of your own government but secretly believe this with all your heart:

Probably some truth in that. Underhanded insults aimed at not getting a face full of knuckles in return or to put it another way a form of slimy cowardice by the bucktoothed Bertie Wooster types.

"Come out and say it. Stand your ground and back it up for if a man cannot stand by his words like a man he stands for nothing" Harley quote :D

thousands as some people seem to think we are amazing and immigrants are destroying our culture, whereas in the real world were built on immigration and invasion

But someone had to suffer in the process of being invaded.

We're supposed to have evolved past thuggery, but there are still some around who probably would respond to words with criminal violence.

Thankfully, we have laws to lock them away afterwards. They don't get to do it more than once.

Who ever told you we've evolved past thuggery? There's no need to insult people for the sake of insult or to verbally exercise a (mistaken) sense of superiority disguised as humour

In the old days a duel would be in order. These days it's fisticuffs in the parking lot behind the bar.
